Sat, 11 November 2006 It seems a little weird to type the phrase "winter break" as I am dealing with 75-degree weather in the middle of November, but it is supposed to be winter. The nasty head cold that I am suffering through reminds me of that. Anyway, I am going to take a break from podcasting until the first of the year. Please don't unsubscribe! There is a long-distance chat that I am lining up with a friend, so you may see a random episode or two show up in the feed before January. I just wanted to let you know not to expect anything on a regular schedule for the next couple months. Thank you all for listening to my solo shows in Karen's absence. Hopefully, January will see both of us back on the air and better than ever. See you in 2007! Category: general -- posted at: 4:06 PM Comments[5] |
Thu, 2 November 2006 Somebody who obviously thinks I have a lot of free time on my hands sent me a link to this word-association game called Funny Farm. I've been working on it for three days and have roped several of my co-workers into helping me. We are reaching the limit of our knowledge. Yes, I know that I could just merge with someone else's game and get an instant solution, but where is the fun in that? I like little hints, not big spoilers. So get to work, my loyal fans, and find me a five-letter word that connects Hell's Angels and Scientology! Category: Cool Links -- posted at: 6:54 PM Comments[57] |
Sat, 28 October 2006 If you are one of the cool kids, then you already have Tag in the Seam on your list of netcasts. However, if Leann's brilliance has escaped your notice, then you must check out episode 11 of her show to hear a hilarious Halloween episode. I feel sure that her talents are being wasted on her day job :-). Category: Cool Links -- posted at: 7:02 PM Comments[4] |

Tue, 26 September 2006 Show Notes for Show #11- I’m off to see the Wizard…at the Portable Media Expo! No show for this week, and Dani is still recovering from Podthroat. - Even when my fans tell me I’m wrong, I still love them. Please email me at karen@karenfromkalifornia and let me know what’s up! - Never Too Late Mortuary, for those of us who still miss our loved ones. This one goes out to Cliff, whose offhand comment really started me thinking…. - Chapter Three finds Gina and Val meeting one of the crew members for the first time. And listen carefully, one of the first clues to our story is revealed. - I couldn’t help myself. It fit perfectly, so here’s “I’m Your Moon, by Jonathon Coulton. If you haven’t heard him yet, go to http://www.jonathancoulton.com/songs/ and just remember, I told you so! Comments[4] |
Sat, 16 September 2006 This seems to be the week for Very Special Episodes. I've already heard two normally-light podcasts this week take a serious tone, and Karen has joined them. That's one of the benefits of podcasting: having a forum to speak your mind without worrying about suits making you stick to a format. Follow along, if you will:--Karen introduces a new artist, Jamey Chambers, who will be helping to pretty things up around here. --Question of the Week: collecting or non-collecting? --Promo for the Adult Space Child Free podcast. I may need that alert again next week if this sore throat gets any worse. --Promo for Wingin' It. As if they need any more promotion! --Tee Morris brings us a track from Lisa Furukawa called "Ikiru". Check out her website; it is well laid-out with lots of info. --Karen remembers 11 Sep 2001 and shows us how the events of that day have caused some people to become even more insensitive. --Bumper from Jack Mangan. --Taken Tunes: "Hell of a Boy" by the Lascivious Biddies, picked up from the Podsafe Music Network. Sorry about the noises from the little hooligans in the background; hopefully they didn't make the Fixed Kitty turn us off ;-). That's it for this week, cats and kitties. If you want to make with the feedback, drop an e-mail to karen@karenfromkalifornia.com or dani@karenfromkalifornia.com. If you want to turn us on with your sweet, sweet voice, then send an .mp3 file to those addresses or call us at 202-222-BUNK (202-222-2865). Comments[7] |

Sat, 2 September 2006 (202-222-2865) Does this picture look familiar? Yes, it's the dining room from "Firefly". you can view this and other wonderful parts of the ship at http://www.fireflyfans.net I think Val and Gina would feel right at home in this picture, so it's fitting that we have new segment with them in it. Give us some feedback on them, the story, and where you think they are going. As for me, well, you know where I'll be. Snuggle in with me, won't you? Comments[8] |
Sat, 26 August 2006 ![]() While I was cleaning up messes here at home, I left the Boss Lady to handle episode #7 on her own. Apparently, that wasn't such a good idea because she left out the Question of the Week. If only Smokin' Joe would stop chasing her around the couch . . . Anyway, I didn't want any of you to suffer from Dani withdrawals so I am providing you with a mini-ep containing this week's question. See how much I care about you? Return some of that love and send me some feedback, will ya? Comments[8] |
Fri, 25 August 2006 Thank you for listening. Here is Show #7 of The BunkCast. Go to www.stonebrew and donate so I can get my hair done, dammit! Uh.. sorry...Please? My pledge number is 1042, and the deadline is NOW!Karen has some interesting things to discuss...but what's really scary is what follows. Yeah, we had to do a review of Snakes On a Plane. But we have a new voice, and that's her in the picture. Guess which one, and I have something special for you. Email me at karen@karenfromkalifornia.com with your guess. Voicemails are always welcome at 206-222-BUNK, that's 206-222-2865. Who needs a name for every piece of furniture in their house? A nod and gentle handshake for the amazing Tee Morris, and we have some out-takes that even had me snickering. There is something missing from this podcast that normally is here. What? Comments[1] |
Wed, 23 August 2006 Wow! I just got my first pledge towards the "Do Your Do, Red Green or Blue" charity drive. Tee Morris has stepped up to help the kids at the Children's Hospital. You too, can help by going to www.stonebrew.com and make this a great year for the YMCA, and Boys and Girls Club too.I feel kind of strange knowing that in just one short week, I will be sporting a new hair color. Just to let you know, I will only be sending the pics of me in my Blue/Red Do to those who feel charitable and can help...heh heh. So if you have a $5.00 bill lying around, or could go without that soy latte (hold the whipped cream) from Starbucks, PLEASE help me reach my goal. Thu, 17 August 2006 Show #6Welcome to the BunkCast, Show #6 for August 18th, 2006. Dani will be answering the Question of the Week, as well as asking a new one. Don't leave her hanging for responses, okay? We'll be taking a trip in the Way-Back Machine to an earlier segment I did for Michael and Evo's Wingin' It. Mennengasia . . . it could be your wife, your son, or you. Just listen. Charity begins in the podcast. You can go to the Stone Brewery website at www.stonebrew.com, and click on the link there to access my personal registration number, #1042. Please? Everyone is equal in the eyes of the Department of Space Vehicles. Even you, Captain Reynolds. WHOOT! This week's song is "Booty Voodoo", courtesy of the Podsafe Music Network. ![]() Comments[5] |
Fri, 11 August 2006 Show #5Jack Mangan's Deadpan Podcast. Wow, I am so excited. Dani has our new segment: Question of the Week. If you don't want her to take her long, red nails and make you say uncle, you had better respond to her at 206-222-BUNK, that's 206-222-2865. Crikey! We got critters! Some of the best promos end up here, and a shout out to the Brooklyn Bluesman, the reigning Shogun of Taiwan, Mark Foreman. New Product Review: Reddi-Wip Chocolate Whipped Cream Voicemail...heh heh...You gave it to us, we listened. A special confession from a special person. You need to hear this one. Comments[7] |
Tue, 8 August 2006 The Hyanide is the bike Luke needed on Planet Hoth. A fleet of these bad ass bikes and forget the Imperial Walkers. They would have run rings around them; mount a blast rifle on the front and we would have Imperial Stumpers. All the stormtroopers could've done was cry in their white plastic salad bowl helmets. The Hyanide (name taken from it's resemblance to a hyena) is a true motorcycle, unlike other "concept" vehicles, in that it employs counter-steering, (turn left to go right, right to go left). However, there is pedal that is pushed at the same time to turn the rear wheel at the same time to maintain tension on the track tread. Imagine a Mobius strip that propels you forward at 130 mph on the snow... Created by German designer Oliver Keller and Tillman Schlootz, (you can find out more at http://www.technovelgy.com/) this is going to be in my garage when I move to Maine. Sat, 5 August 2006 Pssst! Hey, cats and kitties, this is Dani in NC. Come closer; I want to let you in on a little secret. Boss Lady snags all the voicemails from the VM line and keeps them for herself. I don't hear them until the episode is released. If you want MY opinion on something, try sending an email to dani@karenfromkalifornia.com. You can also record an mp3 and send it to the same address. It can be on any subject, not just SF. Just don't tell Karen; she likes to think she is running things around here! Category: general -- posted at: 7:48 PM Comments[5] |

Thu, 27 July 2006 ![]() Welcome to Show #3! This week we have Double Dani, two segments from the lovely lady in N.C. She has some interesting points about Jonathon Coulton’s song, Code Monkey. In our visit to the Way Back Machine, a replay of one of my best segments first aired on Michael and Evo’s Winging It. And a little shout out to one of my special fans. Have you ever wondered how tough it is to be evil? Sometimes being a mad scientist isn’t all lazers and mutants. Dani explains why diamonds aren’t a girl’s best friend, it’s cotton. Even Valley Girls have brilliant ideas from time to time. Karen reaches deep into the shallow end for this one. Voice Mail! Voice Mail! Voice Mail! Send us more like these! This may not be what you were expecting from Karen, but it I’m sure you can all relate. A promo from our good friend, Wandr Radio. Lastly, one of my favorite songs. Mon, 26 June 2006 Welcome to the first sucky show. By Show #5, I hope to have refined it to the well rounded, funny and entertaining show that I hear in my head. (No, not those voices) Because I want to begin as I mean to continue, I will release one show every two weeks. If you like what we have to offer, this may increase. My special guest star is Dani from NC. Her dulcet tones have been heard on a number of shows, and I am honored to present her material here. If you want to comment, please email us at karen@karenfromkalifornia.com, or dani@karenfromkalifornia.com. We will be getting up to speed soon, but the wonderful folk out there were itching for the first show. With your help, we'll all be in our bunks on a regular basis...heh heh. Comments[678] |

As soon as I become a little more proficient, I will be uploading Show #1. It's a bit scary, because I've never done anything like this before. But with the help of some very important and understanding people, this newbie will be making chuckles with all of you as soon as I can. So, on with the show.
